Void King do the doomy stoner rock thing really well. With an EP, a split single, and now three albums under their belt, they’ve begun to explore the depths of their sound even more. Instruments are tight, vocals sound great, and things get a little bluesy on “Brother Tried.” If you like your stoner rock slow and heavy, don’t pass this one up.

Growth is a tremendous release by Moonstone. This album builds upon their previous work and gets me excited about what the band will produce in the future. After previously exploring death and decay, Growth transitions to rebirth and life. The lyrics are inspired and the execution of it all, amazing! Although all tracks are excellent, Emerald, the last one, is an appropriate crescendo to the album, and stands out as possibly their best song to date.
